Hello my e-mates!
My name is Yair
Salim Ortega Mejia, I am 26 years old and I live in Valledupar Cesar.
Interests:
I’ve been studying English for 4 years and I’m
trying to get use to this language every day of my life, watching videos about
religion, science, construction, education, jokes, etc. but it’s still very
difficult to be fluent and fast to get the information and comprehend it.
I study the Holy
Bible, things about Judaism and chronology of the world, I could say that I’d
like to study at a university in Europe, it could be History because I want to
fix the bible chronology from the creation until this time as Isaac newton
tried to do 400 years ago and as Flavius Josephus did 1900 years ago in the
first century.
I’m learning how
to skate at the age of 26, all children say to me that I am old but I sometimes
skate with my purple in-line skate.
I’m interested also
in music, I love all kind of music because the all have their peculiar taste, I
play the violin and I am learning how to play flute.
Unit 1, chapter
1.
Basic concepts:
Assessment, testing and evaluation.
Teaching and testing
Testing is an
important stage to test what is taught, the effect of testing on teaching and
learning is called backwash, and can be harmful or beneficial. It could
be beneficial when testing shows the weakness of training during the year, and
so improving the teaching and learning process and raise the level on students.
It could be harmful when testing is different from the way they’ve been
learning a skill.
Inaccurate test
There are two
main sources of inaccuracy, the first of these concerns test content and test
techniques. If we want to know how well someone can write, there is absolutely
no way we can get a really accurate measure of their ability by means of a
multiple choice test.
Teaching is the
primary activity and it’ been admitted that so much testing provide inaccurate
information. On the other hand exists formative and summative assessment.
Assessment is formative when teachers to check on the progress of theirs students,
to see how far they’ve mastered what they should have learnt, and then use this
information to modify their future teaching plans. It also can be the basis to
give feedback to the students. Summative assessment is used at end of the term,
semester or year to measure what has achieve both as a group or individual.
Evaluation
Evaluation is a
process of collecting, analyzing and interpreting information about teaching
learning in order to make informed decision that enhance students achievement
and the success of educational programs.
-
Evaluation has
four basic components:
-
Make decision:
modify program or materials
-
Articulate
purpose for evaluation: to decide whether to continue using new materials
-
Identify and
collect relevant information: to decide where and how to revise the new program
Analyze and
interpret information: getting feedback to compare students from different
programs and their results are interpreted qualitatively.
